There's
good news and bad new - WebTV is a easy way to access the Internet from
your TV. You don't need a computer and there's no software to load. All
you need is a television, a phone line, and a WebTV Internet terminal.
Now for the bad news and don't shoot the messenger! If you are having
problems sending or receiving cyber greeting cards, viewing a site, or
working with graphics - it's your browser. Browsers read "marked
up" or coded pages (usually HTML but not always) that reside on servers
and interpret the coding into what we see "rendered" as a Web page. Netscape
Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer are examples of Web browsers.
If your are having problems it is the way your WebTv browser is interpreting
the Web page's code. Some card scripts have been written to be compatible
with WebTv and some scripts are not. If you see the statement - "Best
Viewed With Netscape Or Microsoft Explorer" it is a nice way to tell you
that you are going to have a problem. The only solution is to either
access the site with a computer and these browsers or contact your
WebTV
manufacturer and request an upgrade to make your system compatible.
